DISCUSSION 6: Do people in my country think...

  1. Hello there!
I really liked that article and I´ve also learned something new about the Finnish taxiation system. Before reading this text I already knew that Finland has one of the highest tax rates in the EU and I always wondered how you can be happy with that. Know by reading this article I can understand that you accept those high taxes when you see that it changes a country and that you somehow get those taxes back by better health-care and education systems:) Here in Germany I often hear people complain about taxes and I think its because we sometimes have the feeling that our government doesn´t use the money in a proper way. That´s my opinion about the German taxes and I would also like to know what our Polish and Spanish friends think about their tax rates in their countries?
    Greetings Alexandra:)

  2. Hey, I think you are right about this. People always think it's a bad thing that they have to pay many taxes but they also get something back from the state. It's important to pay taxes so the state can help the people that need help. The more taxes you pay the more the state can help you but since the taxes in finnland are pretty high I think it would be bad if they set taxes higher.

    Hello everyone :)
To answer the question, I think that noone really "likes" to pay taxes. In my opinion nobody is happy about giving your earned money away, but of course nearly everybody understands that taxes are necessary. They are needed by the state to provide the welfare stystem which helps us more often thatn we would think. This is why I think while noone is really "happy" about paying taxes, as long as we see that the money we pay benefits the people, most of us are fine with paying them because we see that a governmental system (like ours) which provides THAT much to its citizens would never be possible without taxes paid by the people. In Germany I do not know a lot of people who are complaining about the height of the taxation so in my opinion most of the people are okay with paying that amount.

  4. Hello from Germany. It's an interesting question. I think that the citizens want to pay less taxes (nobody wants giving the earned money away- like you said) but the government needs the taxes for the puplic welfare. The problem thereby is that the citizens can't "see" in what the government invests.

  5. Hello everybody :)

It was interesting to read the articles and to learn something about the different tax systems.

I agree to pay taxes. I think this is a good way to help people who need the support of the state. I also think it is really important to invest in the education systems or to build and keep up the infrastructure because in our everyday life we all can make use of the taxes.

Here in Germany the goverment made some bad decisions about the money and especially the way how it was spent.

In my opinion we can learn from Finland, they pay more taxes but they get more back from their state.

    Greetings from Germany,

    Isabel

  6. Hi everybody!
Currently in Germany a new inheritance tax law is discussed by our politicians. In general you can say that heirs of big companies only have to pay little taxes or even nothing. The introduction of a wealth tax is also discussed from time to time. I would like to know how this is regulated in your countries and how your people think about that.

  7. Hi there:)

    I'm a student from Germany:)
I thougt it was really interesting that every country wrote about themselves and not about the other countries because that was something new.

Sometimes for example in Finland I had the same opinion.
I didn't know anything about the opinion in spain and so I could learned also something from you:)

    Greetings from Germany,
    Michelle
